Greenwood School District 50 Board Approves Balanced 2026–2027 Budget

The approved General Fund budget totals approximately $100.1 million and reflects the district’s continued commitment to fiscal responsibility, employee support, and student achievement. The budget includes strategic investments in employee compensation, classroom support, and operational needs while maintaining a balanced financial plan despite ongoing economic uncertainties at the state and federal levels.

Key highlights of the approved 2026–2027 budget include:

  • A step increase for all employees, representing approximately a 2% increase in pay

  • Raising the starting pay for bus drivers to $19 per hour, with maximum pay increasing to $30.50 per hour

  • Increased pay for bus monitors

  • Adding five additional workdays for Special Education teaching assistants

  • Hiring bonuses for first-year teachers

  • Additional incentives for homegrown teachers who are Greenwood School District 50 graduates

  • Maintaining student-to-teacher ratios below 20-to-1 in elementary and middle schools

“This budget reflects our commitment to supporting students, employees, and schools while remaining responsible stewards of taxpayer dollars,” said Superintendent Shane Goodwin. “The Board’s approval of this balanced budget allows us to continue investing in our people, maintaining high-quality educational opportunities for students, and ensuring our district remains well-positioned for future success.”

The approved budget will take effect on July 1, 2026, for the start of the new fiscal year.
