Greenwood School District 50 is the largest school district in Greenwood County. D50 serves 9,145 students at 16 sites: 8 elementary schools, 3 middle schools, 2 high schools, an early childhood center, a technology center, and one alternative center.

Online registration for the 25-26 school year will also open for new students on February 18, 2025.
States must administer an English language proficiency assessment to limited English proficient students in grades K through 12 in order to comply with the requirements of the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001, 20 USC 6301 et seq. (2002). For the 2024-25 school year, the assessment administered for this purpose will be ACCESS for ELLs® through the WIDA Consortium.
On Tuesday, January 7, 2025, Greenwood School District 50 was informed by PowerSchool of a cybersecurity incident involving unauthorized access to the district's student information system (SIS) in late December 2024. The breach occurred through a compromised customer support credential belonging to PowerSchool.
Doris Watson has been named as the Interim Principal at Pinecrest Elementary School. Watson has worked over 30 years as an director, principal, instructional specialist and teacher in Greenwood School District 50.
Today, Greenwood School District 50 announced that the recommended changes to choice & magnet programs will be withdrawn. These changes were recently under consideration by the Board of Trustees. After a careful review of the feedback received from the community and the lack of support from the Board of Trustees, the decision was made to withdraw the recommendation.
