Message from the Staff

A smiling man wearing a light blue button-down shirt, a teal patterned bow tie, and a grey fedora hat stands outdoors against a brick wall.

Welcome to the Greenwood School District 50 Communications Department!

We are privileged to keep our students, families, employees, and community informed about the important work happening throughout our district. From sharing timely information and district updates to celebrating the accomplishments of our students, staff, and schools, our goal is to ensure our community stays connected to D50.

We believe strong communication builds trust and strengthens the relationships that make our schools successful. We are proud to tell the D50 story and highlight the people, programs, and opportunities that make our district special.

Thank you for your continued support of Greenwood School District 50 as we work together to prepare tomorrow’s leaders.

Sincerely,

Johnathan Graves

More Information

  • In the event of inclement weather, information on school closings or delayed openings will be communicated to radio and T.V. stations by 6:00 A.M. and posted on ParentSquare, our district website, and social media pages. Under certain conditions, a decision to delay or close may be made by 10:00 P.M. of the preceding evening.

We would encourage parents to download ParentSquare for the most up-to-date information regarding school closing or delays. Parents can also listen to your radio and T.V. for this information or visit the district website or social media pages. (Please do not call schools or district personnel.) Most radio and T.V. stations announce ONLY delays and closings. If you do not hear a delay/closing announcement, you should assume that schools are on their normal schedule.

For more information on the radio and T.V. stations that will be notified of District 50’s delayed opening or school closings, visit our Inclement Weather webpage.

  • ParentSquare

All schools in our district use ParentSquare for school communication primarily with email, text, and app notifications.

ParentSquare automatically syncs with our student information system to generate an account for each parent, using their preferred email address and phone number. We encourage parents to access their accounts so they can download the mobile app and update their preferences on when and how they are notified.

ParentSquare is a safe, secure, and modern approach to communication and collaboration between school and home. Learn more and get started today by viewing our ParentSquare web page.
