D50 Board of Trustees Extends Superintendent Goodwin’s Contract Following Exceptional Evaluation
On May 29, 2026, the Board of Trustees of Greenwood School District 50 concluded its annual evaluation of the District Superintendent, Mr. Shane Goodwin. The evaluation consisted of a review by Board members of the Superintendent’s performance in the following areas: Transition to the Role; Communication (Internal & External); Community Engagement & Outcomes; Board – Superintendent Relations; and Opening of the School Year.
The overall evaluation results indicate the Board believes that Mr. Goodwin exceeds the Board’s expectations in the performance of his duties and responsibilities. Board members noted Mr. Goodwin’s strong communication skills, visibility throughout the District and community, commitment to building relationships, and proactive leadership during his transition into the role. Board members also commended his transparency, accessibility, and focus on supporting students, staff, and schools across the District. Mr. Goodwin was praised for the smooth opening of the 2025–2026 school year and his consistent efforts to keep the Board, District employees, families, and community stakeholders informed and engaged.
“Mr. Goodwin has demonstrated exceptional leadership during his first year as Superintendent,” said Board Chairman Clay Sprouse. “His commitment to building strong relationships, maintaining open lines of communication, and remaining visible throughout our schools and community has exceeded the Board’s expectations. We are grateful for his service and excited about the direction of Greenwood School District 50 under his leadership.”
Mr. Goodwin thanked the Board for their service and for their dedication to D50 students. He appreciates the opportunity to serve the District and has found great enjoyment in becoming part of the Greenwood community – both in his role as Superintendent and as a community resident. Mr. Goodwin expressed his thankfulness to the hardworking staff and committed families.

District 50 is filled with people who care deeply about children, and I look forward to continuing our work together to provide the very best opportunities for every student.”
As a result of this evaluation, the Board, by unanimous vote, extended Mr. Goodwin’s contract by an additional year, increased his annuity to ten percent, and increased his monthly travel allowance by $150.00.
