New High School League Rule

The South Carolina High School League has implemented a new policy effective July 1, 2025 regarding middle school students playing sports at the high school level. A student establishes his/her eligibility when he/she is academically promoted to and first attends school in the seventh grade. He/she is eligible at this school and the school that it feeds, until he/she attends another school. In Greenwood 50, the feeder pattern is as follows: Brewer-Greenwood High School, Northside-Greenwood High School, and Westview-Emerald High School. Middle school students who are playing sports offered at the high school level must play at the designated feeder high school. Previously, district superintendents were allowed to alternately place student-athletes at schools within the district; however, this is no longer an option with the new transfer rule. If you have questions regarding this change, please contact the athletic director at the designated high school.
