Annual Notification of Weapons Detector Use
The safety and security of students and staff in our schools and facilities is of utmost importance. We take all reports of threats and threatening behavior very seriously. We are constantly evaluating our system for ways to improve in areas of deterrence and response. Because threats change over time, we continually evaluate the safety of our campuses and procedures for responding to threats.
As we continue to increase the use of our weapons detection systems in our schools, please note the following reminders.
- Anyone who brings prohibited items such as weapons, guns, and knives will be punished in accordance with district policy.
- Please review the district’s Student Code of Conduct with your child. Please discuss with them the severe consequences of bringing a prohibited weapon to school. Consequences will include severe disciplinary actions.
- If a student or other person chooses to violate the law by bringing a prohibited weapon on campus, we will ask law enforcement to prosecute the violator to the fullest extent of the law.
We will use every legal tool we have to protect our students, staff, and visitors.
Please remember, if you see something that you believe will hurt or harm others, say something by reporting what you see to the school administration and to local law enforcement. District students, employees, and community members may anonymously report any concerns using our district Quick Tip line.
