Child Find refers to the process of ensuring that all youth with disabilities who are in need of special education and related services are identified, located, and evaluated. This includes children and adolescents residing in our district boundaries who attend public or private schools, are homeschooled, are highly mobile, reside in residential treatment facilities, are wards of the state, are incarcerated, or attend adult education.
Child Find applies to children from birth to the age of 21 years. Special education services can be provided from the 3rd birthday through the school year in which a student turns 21.

BabyNet referrals are typically coordinated through Early Intervention programs and doctor referrals. Please reach out to our

- Child Find Clinic - ages 3 through 5 not in school; private school and homeschool ages 3-21
If you suspect a child not enrolled in G50 schools may have a disability, you can submit a referral to our office to have the child scheduled for a clinic screening. The screening will consist of a review of information and the administration of screening tools. Please reach out to our

- School-Based - ages 4 to 21 years enrolled in D50 schools
Students receive screenings and/or general education interventions using an individual child problem solving approach, through the Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) process, that help to identify students who may have a disability and need services. Parents can request information on interventions or make a referral for special education evaluation by contacting their school's MTSS Coordinator.
