Two New Elementary Assistant Principals Named in District 50

Greenwood School District 50 recently announced the hiring of two new Assistant Principals following the May Board of Trustees meeting. 

 

Randi Maynard will be the Assistant Principal at Merrywood Elementary next year. Maynard has eight years of experience in District 50 and currently serves as a Kindergarten teacher at Merrywood Elementary School. Maynard is a product of District 50 and began her career as a 1st grade teacher in 2015 at Merrywood. Maynard obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Lander University and her Master's degree in Educational Administration from Grand Canyon University.

Merrie Wright has been named the Assistant Principal at Pinecrest Elementary School. Wright currently serves as a 6th-grade ELA teacher at Northside Middle School, a position she has held since 2021. During her 21 years in District 50, Wright has worked as a classroom teacher, MLP teacher, and reading interventionist at the elementary and middle school level. During her time in District 50, she has been recognized as a First-Year Teacher of the Year and as Teacher of the Year at Woodfields Elementary. Wright graduated from Lander University and earned a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. She obtained her Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Phoenix and an Educational Specialist degree in Administration and Supervision from Clemson University.
