District 50 also outperformed the state average on SC READY ELA and Math in grade 6 and on Science in Grade 4.
Superintendent Shane Goodwin said, “Our students, teachers, and families should be extremely proud of these results. While we celebrate this progress, we remain focused on providing the resources, instruction, and support needed to ensure every child is prepared for success in college, career, and life. This continued growth in our district is a reflection of the dedication of our educators and the hard work of our students.”
Based on information provided by the State Department, the overall state performance in Math is still below pre-pandemic levels and will continue to receive “targeted intervention” from the state. This state trend in Math is also reflected in District 50’s middle school performance, as marginal gains have been made in middle school Math since the pandemic. Our middle schools will continue to work hard on strategies in conjunction with the state to address this subject area.
