The selection of a superintendent is among the most consequential decisions a board can undertake. Accordingly, we engaged in a comprehensive and deliberate search process---one that was both time-intensive and thorough---to ensure we identified a leader who embodies the vision, integrity, and commitment necessary to guide our district forward. I extend my deepest appreciation to my fellow board members for their unwavering dedication and thoughtful engagement throughout the process.
We are also sincerely grateful to the many highly qualified candidates who expressed interest in this important role. Their passion for education and service to students was evident and deeply appreciated.
Greenwood School District 50 has made significant strides in recent years, particularly in laying a strong academic foundation at the elementary level. As we look to the future, we are committed to building upon that success and accelerating progress across all grade levels.
On behalf of the Board of Trustees, it is my distinct honor to welcome Shane Goodwin and his wife, Christy, to the Greenwood District 50 family. We are confident that under Mr. Goodwin’s leadership, our district will continue to thrive and reach new heights in educational experience.”
Mr. Goodwin looks forward to his new role and made the following comments: “Thank you for the privilege and honor to lead Greenwood School District 50 as your next Superintendent. Reflecting on my 29-year career in public education brings me immense gratitude. Over these years, I have observed the profound impact of education in transforming students’ lives, aiding families, and fortifying communities.
As I look ahead, I am excited about listening and learning about Greenwood School District 50 and about leading the work of lifting up our students and their families. Together, we can ensure that our schools continue to be foundations of opportunity and development for everyone in our community.”
