Boys Volleyball at EHS and GHS Begins Fall 2022-2023

D50’s announcement follows the South Carolina High School League’s recent sanctioning of boys volleyball as a varsity sport. The first state championship will be held the following year..

Emerald High School Athletic Director Mack Hite said, “This is an exciting step forward for Emerald Athletics. We are excited to offer this as a sport to our male student athletes at Emerald. Our plan is to build a more vibrant program as we work to provide more exposure to our male student athletes during the inaugural season.”

During the inaugural season, both teams will play an eight game schedule against other schools throughout the state with boys volleyball teams.

Greenwood High School Athletic Director Sparky Hudson stated, “This is another great opportunity for our male student athletes at Greenwood High to participate in a competitive high school sport. We look forward to offering this sport beginning in the fall and continuing our tradition of success with all of our athletics.”

Both high schools are currently hosting interest meetings for the sport and there will be job postings for head coaching positions listed on D50’s website under Human Resources.
