D50 Announces COVID-19 Test-To-Stay Program Begins Monday, February 7th

Student Test-To-Stay Program (For Unvaccinated Students)

Today, Greenwood School District 50 announced that students identified as COVID-19 close contacts can continue to attend school and avoid quarantine provided they meet the following criteria:

  • Have no COVID-19 symptoms
  • Wear a mask through Day 10 per DHEC guidelines (Masks will be available from the school district)
  • Test negative through the Test-To-Stay Program (Test on Day 5, 6, or 7; results provided to school nurse by Day 8)

Beginning Monday, February 7th, parents will receive guidance from their school nurse if their child is quarantined and eligible for D50’s Test-To-Stay Program. Greenwood School District 50 will provide the rapid test. Parents are required to test their child on Day 5, 6, or 7. Results from the required test should be provided to the school nurse by Day 8 along with the DHEC Attestation Form. School staff will not administer COVID-19 tests for students. 


In order to remain in school, the test results must be negative. If the student develops COVID-19 symptoms at any time during the quarantine period, they must isolate immediately, report symptoms to the school nurse, and await further guidance from the school nurse.  


Please note that students who received quarantine guidance prior to February 7th, may return to school immediately if they have no symptoms, but parents will need to confirm with their school nurse which date they must take a test in order to remain at school. 


**For students who are household close contacts and CANNOT separate from the positive case, they must quarantine for 10 days (or 5 days from last exposure).**


Employee Test-To-Stay Program (For Unvaccinated Employees)

Today, Greenwood School District 50 announced that D50 employees identified as COVID-19 close contacts can return to work and avoid quarantine provided they meet the following criteria:

  • Have no COVID-19 symptoms
  • Wear a mask through Day 10 per DHEC guidelines (Masks will be available from school district) 
  • Test negative through the Test-To-Stay Program (Test on Day 5, 6, or 7; results provided by Day 8)

Beginning Monday, February 7th, staff can visit Genesis Education Center to receive a rapid test on Day 5, 6, or 7. Please call 388-2475  from 8:00 a.m.- 3:00 p.m. to schedule an appointment. These rapid tests are separate from the district’s COVID-19 PCR testing site at Genesis Education Center hosted by Mako Medical. If you decide to test outside of the school district, test verification must come from a medical professional. 


If an employee develops COVID-19 symptoms at any time during the quarantine period, they must isolate immediately, report symptoms to their supervisor and await further guidance from their supervisor.


Please note that employees who received quarantine guidance prior to February 7th, may return to work immediately if they have no symptoms, but will need to confirm with their supervisor which date they must take a test in order to remain at school.

If the student or employee develops COVID-19 symptoms at any time, they must isolate immediately, report symptoms to their school or supervisor and await further guidance. 

COVID-19 symptoms of illness during quarantine period include:

  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • New or worsening cough
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Fever of at least 100.4
  • Or two or more of the following symptoms during the 10 days after exposure:
  • New onset of severe headache
  • Fatigue
  • Persistent or worsening sore throat
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Muscle pain or body aches
  • Nausea/vomiting
  • Diarrhea
