D50 Begins Balanced Modified Calendar Next School Year

Greenwood School District 50’s will transition to the Balanced Modified Calendar beginning the 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 school years. Last year, the district received confirmation that the balanced modified calendar does meet the requirements of state statutes and state law.

“I am extremely excited that our calendar will become a reality next school year,” Superintendent Steve Glenn stated. “As I have stated many times before, this decision was not made lightly. We truly feel that this calendar is the best decision for our school district and community.”

At District 50’s November 2019 Board meeting, the Board of Trustees voted to approve operating on a traditional calendar during the 2020-2021 school year, followed by the district transitioning to a balanced modified calendar during the 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 school years. The first day of school for the 2021-2022 balanced modified calendar will be July 22, 2021 with the school year ending for students on June 3, 2022
