Today, Greenwood School District 50 announced moving the start-date for the 2020-2021 school year from August 18th to August 24th.
“Adjusting the start date will provide us with more time to successfully implement our reopening plans for the 2020-2021 school year,” Superintendent Steve Glenn stated. “I am proud of the hard work of our staff this summer to develop plans that will help us have a great start to the year. The health and safety of our students and staff remains our top priority.”
The change in the start-date will not affect the end-date of the school calendar (June 3, 2021). Other adjustments to the calendar include:
- D50 will utilize eLearning days. On these days, all students will complete eLearning activities from home. eLearning days for the 2020-2021 school year will be:
- October 2, 2020
- November 2, 2020
- February 12, 2021
- March 12, 2021
- April 5, 2021
- Teachers will report back to work on August 17th for an inservice day
- LEAP days will be August 10th - August 14th. LEAP (Learn, Evaluate, Analyze, and Prepare) days and are mandatory for all districts grades 4K- 8th grade. LEAP days must be used for face-to-face assessment activities, instructional support, and/or professional development.
