D50 Announces Jamie Blount as Interim Principal at Emerald
Emerald High School will have a new face as Interim Principal beginning in December.
Jamie Blount has been named as the Interim Principal at Emerald High School. Blount is currently in her 3rd year serving as the Assistant Principal at Emerald. Prior to working in District 50, Blount worked five years at Southside High School and seven years at Mauldin High School in Greenville as an English teacher. Along with her duties as an English teacher, Blount also served as a mentor to new teachers in the building and was named the school’s Teacher of the Year in 2014.
Blount obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education/English from USC-Upstate and received her Masters of Arts degree in English from Winthrop University. She also recently obtained her Ed.S in School Leadership from Furman University.
“I am excited about my next career opportunity in District 50,” Blount said. “Emerald offers a tremendous educational experience for all students that is engaging and diverse. I look forward to making positive contributions that will build on the rich tradition the school has in academics, athletics, and the arts. I will strive to continue making a difference in the lives of our students with the help of our staff and parents as we continue to provide them with the building blocks to become college and career ready.”
Superintendent Dr. Steve Glenn is excited to have a new administrator moving into an interim role in the district.
“Ms. Blount will do a tremendous job as interim principal at Emerald,” Dr. Glenn stated. “She has been effective at building relationships with Emerald’s community and will have a positive impact on the faculty, staff, students and parents. She has been successful in our district and I fully anticipate this to continue.”
Karen Teague will become an Interim Assistant Principal at Emerald High School. Teague is currently serving as the Interim Assistant Director at Genesis Education Center. Damian Coleman will return to his role of Director at Genesis Education Center. Coleman previously worked 12 years as the Director of Genesis. Lori Corley will become the Interim Assistant Director at Genesis after beginning the year at the Technology Center as an Assistant Director.
These positions are labeled with an interim status which means that the positions will be posted at the end of the school year for qualified candidates to apply.
