Michael Hudson Named as New GHS AD
Michael Hudson has been named as the new Athletic Director at Greenwood High School. Hudson is currently the Interim Director at the Genesis Education Center. Hudson served as the Assistant Director at Genesis two years prior to becoming Interim Director.
During his 24 years in District 50, Hudson has served as a teacher, assistant principal, and athletic coach. He is a graduate of Newberry College with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. He received his Masters degree in Business Education from the University of South Carolina and certification in Administration from Clemson University.
“It is an honor to lead an athletic program with such a rich tradition of success,” Hudson stated. “I look forward to my new role as the Athletic Director at Greenwood High School. I have a passion for all of the athletic programs at GHS and will work hard to maintain the high level of competition that has been established throughout the years.”
Hudson has served in a variety of athletic coaching positions at GHS. His athletic experience at the high school includes serving as an assistant football coach, special teams coordinator, assistant girls basketball coach, Head Varsity Golf Coach and Head Varsity Wrestling Coach.
Hudson and his wife Jennifer are the parents of 2 daughters and 3 sons.
Superintendent Steve Glenn said, “Michael Hudson exhibits the character and professional expertise to continue leading the very special athletic programs at Greenwood High School. He is a proven leader and will focus his full attention on bettering all of our student athletes on the playing field and in the classroom. We have full and complete confidence that Mr. Hudson will continue the excellent programs established at the school.”
Principal Chad Evans said, “We are pleased to announce that Mr. Michael Hudson will be the new Athletic Director at Greenwood High School. He has served our student body in the past as an Assistant Principal and now he will have the opportunity to lead our Athletic Department. We are excited to add Mr. Hudson to the Greenwood Family as we strive for future success.”
Hudson will replace Coach Dan Pippin who is retiring in December. Tim McMahon will retain his position as Athletic Director at Emerald High School. The Head Football Coaching positions at both high schools will be posted at a later date.
