EHS Senior Julia Boone Recognized for Completing Accelerate Program

lk Emerald High Senior Julia Boone was recognized as the first Accelerate graduate for Greenwood School District 50 at the district’s May Board Meeting. Julia was also recognized as one of only 20 seniors in the state to complete the program offered through the SC Governors School for Science and Mathematics.

In 2016, Greenwood District 50 collaborated with the SC Governors School for Science and Mathematics to offer the Accelerate program to qualifying students. Accelerate is an intensive engineering program that offers virtual courses to 10th-, 11th-, and 12th-graders across the state of South Carolina. 

Julia graduated from Emerald on Friday, May 31st at Lander’s Finis Horne Arena. Julia plans to attend Clemson University’s Honors College in the fall.  She plans to major in computer engineering with an emphasis in robotics.
