Springfield 5th Grader Jaylon Dunlap Recognized as 2019 Spelling Bee Champion

The Springfield Finalist Spelling Bee was held on Thursday, January 24th. Students in 2nd - 5th grade competed for the title of 2019 Springfield Spelling Champion. In the end, 5th grader Jaylon Dunlap was crowned the 2019 Springfield Spelling Bee Champion. After spelling his championship word of “recognition”, Jalon received a standing ovation from students, parents, and staff in attendance.

“Our purpose of having a spelling bee is to help students improve their spelling, increase their vocabulary, learn concepts, and develop correct English usage that will help them all their lives,” Springfield GT Teacher & Spelling Bee Coordinator Katlyn Greer stated.
