D50 8th Graders Experience First Ever Lander Education Game

dj On November 28th, over 450 8th graders in District 50 participated in the first ever Education game at Lander University. 8th graders from Brewer, Northside, and Westview arrived at Lander’s campus in the morning and completed an interactive scavenger hunt. The scavenger hunt allowed students to visit landmarks on campus which included Lander’s fountain, library, and new residence hall. Lander student ambassadors provided middle schoolers with quick fun facts about the campus at each stop.

In the afternoon, 8th graders were treated to a NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball game at Finis Horne Arena as the Lady Bearcats squared off against Erskine College’s Lady Flying Fleet. The game was sponsored by Chick-Fil-A of Greenwood and provided students with reserved seating in the lower level. Students were excited by the Lady Bearcats 91-73 victory over Erskine and also their principal taking part in some of the fun in-game activities.

Plans are already in the works for another Education Game next school year. Thanks again to Lander for hosting our 8th graders at this tremendous event!
