D50 and Lander Partner to Host Another Successful Unified Sports Day

On Friday, October 26th Lander University and District 50 continued its strong partnership of involving students, parents, and educators in Unified Sports Day.

The 2nd annual event was once again held at Finis Horne Arena and the Joel V. Chandler Center. 70 students with special needs throughout District 50 visited Lander to participate in a variety of sports activities during the morning.

District 50 teachers, teacher assistants and students from Lander’s Delta Sigma Phi Chapter were on hand to assist special-needs students in basketball, bocce, soccer and dance moves.

D50 Special Services Management Specialist Melissa Latham and Lander student Rachel Whitlock worked together to organize another successful day for everyone involved. The plan is to continue growing Unified Sports Day in the years to come!
