Gale Selected As Director of Professional Development

ald Julian Gale, Principal of Merrywood Elementary School, has been named as the new Director of Professional Development. Gale was approved by the School Board at the May 8th called Board of Trustees meeting.

“I am excited about this new opportunity in my professional career,” Mr. Gale said. “I have high expectations for all of our staff and maintain the belief that guiding our staff towards continuous improvement will cultivate a culture of success district-wide.”

Gale has worked in District 50 for the last 18 years. Gale began his career in District 50 as a classroom teacher at Oakland Elementary School. He has also served as an Academic Coach and Instructional Specialist at Pinecrest Elementary School. Gale  was named Oakland’s Teacher of the Year in 2009 and the school’s First Year Teacher of the Year in 2000.

He was named Rice Elementary Principal during the 2011-2012 school year and stayed in that role with the school for four years. In 2016, Gale was named principal at Merrywood Elementary a position he has held for the last two years.

Gale received his Bachelor of Science and Masters of Education degree in Elementary Education from Lander University.

“Mr. Gale has become a district leader during his career in District 50,” Superintendent Darrell Johnson stated. “He is well respected by parents, students, employees, and administration. He has the talent, knowledge, and skills to provide the leadership necessary to help our teachers and staff reach the next level.”
