• Welcome to Music at ACTS!
    Voice, Guitar and Musical Theatre

Dear ACTS Voice Students and Parents,

I am looking forward to my second year of teaching at the ACTS School.  I especially look forward to getting to know my students better and watching them grow as musicians.  Together, I know we have a semester of beautiful music ahead of us.

My name is Amy Fennell.  I graduated from Erskine College with a Bachelor of Science in Music Education and from the University of South Carolina with a Masters in Music Education.  My professional experience varied.  I have taught six years in South Carolina public schools, including 4 years in an arts magnet school in Dorchester School District 2.  My teaching also includes adjunct collegiate experience at Presbyterian College and Erskine College.  Church music ministry has been an important part of my professional experience.  I currently direct the children’s choir at First Presbyterian Church.  I also direct a community choir for girls in grades 4-8 called Palmetto Girls Sing.  My family is an important part of my life.  I am married to Josh Fennell, and we have three children; Laura Margaret (11), Charlie (9) and Adam (6).

Voice Focus students will be exposed to a wide variety of experiences.  Learning goals will be aligned with South Carolina Music Standards.   An emphasis will be placed on learning to sing with a beautiful and healthy tone quality, music literacy, vocal health, performance skills and expressive qualities of music.  Through learning high quality choral literature, students will also learn about music history and other cultures.

If you have any questions, I can be reached at Brewer Middle School, 941-5500, ext 6207 or fennella@gwd50.org.  Thank you, and I look forward to a great year together.

    Sincerely,

    Amy Fennell
