Two-time All-Conference and two-time All-State performer in baseball.  

Selected to play in the North/South All-Star Game as a senior in 1992.

Attended Erskine College on a baseball scholarship and graduated in 1996.

Spent 1 year as Head JV baseball coach at Emerald High School (7 wins - 5 losses)

Spent 10 years as Head Varsity Baseball Coach at Emerald High School (160 wins - 86 losses - 1 tie)

Selected to coach in the 2002 North/South All-Star Game.  

Selected as the Region III-AA Coach of the Year in 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2007

Selected as the Class AA State Coach of the Year by the South Carolina Baseball Coaches Association in 2005.

After 20 years in public education, I understand the importance of building a rapport with each student and giving them hope.  I encourage all stakeholders to understand that education is a joint effort between educators, parents, and students to ensure success.

I am married to Emmy Evans who teaches at Hodges Elementary in Greenwood District 50.   Emmy and I have two children, Preston Luke Evans (15) and Riley Layne Evans (11).  We are members of South Main Street Baptist Church.
