Mrs. Walton

I am excited to be starting my 7th year of teaching here at Emerald High School. I am from McCormick, SC, but graduated from Lincoln County High School in Georgia, where I now live (yes, I drive 40 minutes to work everyday, but I truly enjoy the ride). I am also a graduate of Lander University where I played soccer and earned my BA degree in English. I am also certified in Gifted and Talented, Project Based Learning, and Read to Succeed. Recently I have earned my masters degree from American College of Education in Instructional Design and Technology.

When I was a senior in high school, I realized that I loved learning so much that I did not want to give it up. This, and my love for literature and writing, is what drove me to be a teacher. I strive to make caring and lasting relationships with my students, and I feel that this strongly impacts their learning in my class.

I have a twin sister, Mrs. Wells, and a cousin, Mr. Bowen who work at EHS as well. My husband and I have been married for 8 years now, and we have a fluffy black Border Collie named The Black Pearl, though we just call her Pearl. I come from a large family and we are all very close. My parents and older siblings were and still are the biggest inspirations in my life.

I enjoy camping, playing soccer, running, biking, kayaking, hiking, listening to all types of music (especially live), and reading and writing. My husband and I also spend a lot of our time traveling and going to see live music performances from local bands as well as visiting new states and countries.

I look forward to getting to know my students better. I'm sure I will learn from them as much as they learn from me.

Thanks for visiting.

Mrs. Walton.
