Welcome to 6th Grade ELA! I am Mrs. Garrison and I am ready for an exciting year. There have been a several changes this year at Brewer and I am optimist that they will be extremely positive. 6th graders are extremely unique and are beginning to decide who they really see themselves becoming. I can not wait to watch all of my students bloom and blossom into confident and independent learners. I hope all of them are able to welcome these changes, willingly and happily.

This year we will be focusing on the connection between reading and writing. Reading is a fundamental component of education. In fact it is a core element in student achievement. We are going to discuss the importance of finding your voice and using it. There are many ways we can use our voice. One important way is when we write. Writing is important and we will practice a form of writing daily. I want my students to read what they love and love what they read. I also want them to get excited about writing. Together will will grow and SURVIVE this wonderful thing we call Middle School. Let our journey begin!
It is always important to remember that, "Reading is the seed that sprouts continued education."
