• Welcome Families!

My name is Lauren Thigpen and am in my 5th year of serving as a Reading Interventionist at Woodfields Elementary. I work with children in small reading groups for 20-25 minutes every day. Reading is so fundamental to a child's success in school and later in life, and my job is to help those students who may need a little extra push in reading outside of the classroom walls. In our group time together, students usually read an on-level text for about fifteen minutes, then work on sight words (1st and 2nd graders), followed by word study and writing (all grades).

Please require home reading time every day- it is especially helpful for children to read out loud to an adult so that the adult can ask questions while reading to check for comprehension and hear exactly how the child sounds.

I am so excited to be working with your children this year!
