Seventh and Eighth Grade Magnet Applications
Seventh or eighth grade students applying for a Greenwood District 50 Magnet Program must be new to the district, or a student that registered for school after the magnet application period.
Admission into a Greenwood District Magnet Program for seventh and eighth graders is based on successful completion of the application process, which includes meeting the qualifying criteria for the specific program. In grades seven and eight, our magnet programs have very limited enrollment capacity. If the number of qualifying applicants exceeds space, a waiting list will be developed. Vacancies occurring after the selection process, through the first five days of school, will be filled from the waiting list.
In order to process all magnet applications fairly, applicants who have been enrolled in private, virtual, home-schools and out-of-district schools, (public and charter) must submit records consistent with the records used for applicants enrolled in Greenwood School District 50. Those records include fifth grade testing data, attendance records, discipline reports, and the final report card. For the current school year, that includes the first semester attendance record, discipline report, and report card. Parents or guardians are responsible for submitting all required records by the deadline. Applications with missing records will not be reviewed.
The application window for new students begins the first week of December and at the end of July for rising Seventh and Eighth grade students new to the district. Applications will be made available at that time.
