Greenwood School District 50 announced today that the Montessori program will relocate to the Greenwood Early Childhood Center beginning the 2021-2022 school year. A letter was sent to Montessori parents on Monday informing them of the relocation.
“In an effort to continue to strengthen our Montessori program, we have made the decision to relocate the program to the Greenwood Early Childhood Center beginning next school year,” Director of GT & Choice & Magnet Programs Julian Gale stated. “This will allow a renewed focus and an opportunity for future growth of the program.”
The Montessori program is a hands-on, individualized approach to learning that is success oriented. Children are taught in a multi-age classroom and remain with the same teacher for 2-3 years. Montessori teachers are specially trained facilitators who guide students to explore their world and think creatively.Current Montessori students will not need to reapply to attend the Montessori program at the Greenwood Early Childhood Center. Any new students interested in the program should apply at www.gwd50.org. The application process will begin on December 7, 2020.
