• Project 1: The Color Wheel

    All art classes learn about color. The students learn how to blend colors using colored pencils, and how to create tints and shades. The students will create a piece of artwork based on the color wheel.

    - 8th Grade: An umbrella painting using tints and shades.

    - 7th Grade: A dreamcatcher painting using lines and shapes.

    - 6th Grade: A letter shaped color wheel using their initial.

     

    Project 2: The Elements of Art

    The students will learn about each element of art and create a grid like drawing that displays all 7 elements: line, color, value, form, shape, space, and texture.

     

    Project 3: Painting using Brustrokes

    - 8th Grade: The 8th grader learn about the artist, Georges Seurat. The students then create a landscape painting showing different types of brushstrokes.

    - 7th Grade: The 7th graders learn about the artist, Claude Monet. The students then creat a seascape using warm and cool colors.

    - 6th Grade: The 6th graders learn about the artist, Vincent van Gogh. The students then create a skyscape using dash marks to create an illusion of movement.

     

    Project 4: Non-Objective Line Drawing

    - 8th Grade: The 8th graders are learn about the artist, Fernand Leger. The students will create a doodle drawing using lines, shapes, and a focal point.

    - 7th Grade: The 7th graders are learn about the artist, Piet Mondrian. The students will create a grid drawing using lines, organic shapes, and the primary/secondary colors.

    - 6th Grade: The 6th graders are learn about the artist, Wassily Kandinsky. The students will create a non-objective line drawing using lines, shapes, value, and texture rubbings.
