Before Taking Pictures 1. The company will need a listing of students
and permanent ID numbers for the school.
These can be queried to a disk file. 2. Have the company save all images in a
folder called "PCTFILEC” on a CD-ROM.
This folder will contain pictures of your students. Those pictures will be labeled “1001.PIC,” “1002.PIC,”
etc. 3. A database cross-reference file named
"XREFPICT.TXT" must be included by the photographers on the CD-ROM
in a folder called "DATAMAC."
That file is comma-delimited with quotes (for example, each record
will look like this:
“490004030912”,”1003.PIC”) where the first value is the student’s
PERMNUM (not SSN) and the second value is the name of the picture for that
student on the CD-ROM. 4. All images should be saved in PIC
format. (NOTE: Kodak Photo CD images are NOT supported.) In SASIxp 1. Insert picture CD-ROM from the school
photographer into your computer's CD-ROM drive. 2. Log into SASIxp as SYSADMIN. In System Setup, open the User module and
find the SYSADMIN user screen. In the
Image Input Device field, select Photo CD.
Save the changes and close the User module. (Only
SYSADMIN can import student pictures.
OCS staff will arrange to import your pictures during one of their
regularly scheduled visits.) 3. Open the Student module and right arrow to
the first student’s record. Select
Attach StudentPhotos from the Student option on the menu bar. A message “This process will attach photos
from the selected CD. Do you wish to continue?” displays. Click “Yes” to continue or click “No.” 4. On the CD-ROM, double-click “XREFPICT.TXT”
in the DATAMAC folder. The message “Do you want to replace all existing
photos?” displays. Click “Yes” to replace all existing photos with photo
files from the Photo CD or click “No” to add new photos only and not replace
existing photos. 5. As the SASIxp software copies the Photo CD
onto the file server, a progress screen displays the number of photos
attached, number of attach errors, and the total number of photos attached. After that process, check your photos in
SASIxp and correct errors manually. |
