My name is Amy Gillion, and I am a reading interventionist at Mathews Elementary School in Greenwood District 50.  I have been a teacher for 21 years. Twenty of those years have been at Mathews. Some of my previous jobs have included teaching kindergarten, first, third, GATAS, science enrichment, HOSTS, BEST, and reading groups.  I love working at Mathews!

I am a native of Greenwood, and I attended District 50 schools.  I graduated in 1987 form Greenwood High School.  In 1991, I graduated from Lander University with a dual degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education.  In 2006, I received my Master's Degree in Elementary Reading and Literacy from Walden University.

I am married to Gary Gillion who teaches math at Abbeville High School.  He is also the head football coach at Greenwood Christian School.  We have twin daughters, Corinne and Helen.  They attend school at Emerald.
