GHS BAND ITENERARY

Friday, September 10th  @ Dorman

 

5:00 PM ROLL CALL & MEETING in Band Room

 
5:05-5:20 - UNIFORM Changing into HALVES
 
 
5:30 PM                  Load Bus/ Depart for Roebuck, SC
7:15 PM                  Arrive at Dorman HS
7:30 PM                  Game Begins – Band reports to stands

 

HALFTIME                           Band is performing Ballad & Closer after Dorman Dance Team
                                                *Band will be performing to away stands and will remain on the
                                                  sideline after performance to watch Dorman HS Band.

Time OFF                               -Band members have until 3:00 minutes on 3rd quarter clock to be on the GHS side of the stadium.

                                                -STRONGLY ENCOURAGE band members to participate in buying the “Band Only” meal for $4. Includes a Chick Fila Sandwich, Chips, and Drink. Tickets for this meal are sold on Wednesday and Thursday before the game. This meal is for band members to save money and have more free time for socializing and relaxing.

 

3:00 left on 3rd Quarter Clock              ALL Band Members back on Band side of Stadium

 

4th Quarter                              ALL Band Members back in stands ready to play!!

 

End of Game                          Band Members will line up on track after cleaning stands and march back to bus.

 

EXPECT TO ARRIVE BACK IN GREENWOOD BETWEEN 11:30 PM - 12:00 AM
 
 
REMINDERS:                       Horn Members must have instruments cleaned before reporting to the Band Room. Instruments are not to be cleaned in the Band Room on new carpet.

 

                                                Members not playing in stands or not being ready will result in dropping of grade. No sharing of flip folders. Members must stay in position in stands.

 

Loud or Boisterous behavior will result in being sent to the bus and lowering of grade.

 

                                                We are there to support the team during game time. Half time is about what WE DO. It is a performance and students with “game head” will not be tolerated. You are there to perform and show off all the hard work we have been doing. A mature attitude and focus is REQUIRED for success.

About the Class:
Marching Band
Mr. Maxie
4th Block / Fall Semester
 
Marching Band 1,2,3,and 4 is open to any student in grades 9-12 who meets the performance proficiency requirements. The primary goal of Marching Band 1 will be to develop skills, knowledge, and techniques in musical performance, both individually and as a group. This course involves the coordination of musical skills with physical movement. Performance and entertainment will be emphasized. This band will represent the school at selected athletic events, band festivals, parades and contests. Students are required to participate in these activities. This course is taught during the fall semester. Rehearsals begin in early August. Practices will be held after school hours. Students must be highly self-motivated and willing to dedicate time after school and on weekends to rehearse and participate in competitive activities. Purchase of uniform accessories is required. Performances and rehearsals will be used to factor grades.
